Our Best Year Ever!!!

To All Team Donovan Members and Supporters,

Never mind all my worries about not meeting our goal. I should have known that Team Donovan always dominates.

Yes, it was Total Donovation once again this year. Because of your support, 2007 is our biggest year ever! We raised a total of $41,000 in online and offline donations and won first place. WOW! Teams have already challenged us for the top spot next year and all I had to say was, “Bring it on!” We all know that Team Donovan loves the friendly competition! Overall, Beach Cities Relay For Life raised $310,000 and they are still accepting donations so who knows where our team ends up! After 5 years of participation, Team Donovan has raised a total of $170,000. Please pat yourselves for this accomplishment and for a job well done!

I can’t even tell you how grateful I am to each and every one of you for making this so memorable. It is truly all about the cause and it just so happens to be fun as well. Special thanks goes to the people who gave so much of their time and efforts in setting up Team Donovan. You all know who you are. I hope you all enjoyed the Christmas in July theme as much as we did. I would have to say that this year’s highlight was the swarm of bees that nested their way to our Christmas tree (I think this beats last year’s crazy lightning storm). It was wild! I was in shock when I saw a group of men from the fire dept, some in their white overalls (head coverings and all), carrying our team’s Christmas tree outside the track towards the trash bins! The ACS has now banned Christmas trees thanks to Team Donovan. I thought that was funny. This year the ACS also started a Cancer Prevention Study and I just wanted to thank all of you who participated.

However more shout outs to follow:

  • Thanks to Santa (you know who you are) for making a stop at the South Bay and saying hello to our young TD members. They loved the goodies and the spirit that you brought to our Team!
  • Thanks to Gregg at EZ Up once again for donating more TD tents. Let’s just say, TEAM DONOVAN is now hard to miss.
  • Thanks to American Apparel and The Ornelas family for donating the Tees and Screen-printing. We looked darn good this year!
  • Thanks to Erwin and Iris for their designing talents. Erwin designed our tees and Iris designed our banners and they looked GREAT!
  • Thanks to Outdoor Dimension and The Pickler family for producing the banners this year. We couldn’t have looked this good without you!
  • Thanks To RJ our official TEAM DONOVAN webmaster and photographer!
  • Thanks to Ron Rockoff from the Lakers in helping get the food to feed our hungry Team members and of course, thanks to Chipotle and Taco Bell for pulling through this year.
  • Thanks to all our huge sponsors and contributors and especially the individuals that helped our store and silent auction raise an incredible amount of money to fight to find a cure: agron, adidas/Notre Dame/UT, AEG/Staples Center/Home Depot Center, The Marketing Arm, AT&T, Fossil, NBA, MLB, LA Lakers, LA Kings, LA Sparks, LA Clippers, La Dodgers, LA Galaxy, Anaheim Ducks, SD Chargers, SF Giants, Reebok, Taylor Made Golf, The Huntley Hotel, Marriott, Chipotle, Taco Bell, Red Bull, Coca-Cola, Frito-Lay, Rip Curl, Trithis Coaching, Starbucks, WinPlus, Universal Music Group, Paramount, Lionsgate, Feld Entertainment, Beverly Hills Hotel, Ana Brandt Photography, Kara Carlsen, Pastian family,GeoLabs/Tim Casey, and so many more.
  • Thanks to our fearless TD committee and the people who helped set up and take down (Jen, Tracey, RJ, Christina, Vincent, Shani, Iris, Valery, Samantha, Catherine, Vanessa, Vivien, Eliza, Michelle T., Kent, Sam, Erik, Robert, Michael Harris, The Laker Boys, Travis, and finally the Villaverde and Tardiff family). There is no way we could be this successful without you.

And finally, thank you to all of our Team Donovan members and supporters once again for your continued dedication to the Team, to the event, and to this fight to find a cure. This is our chance to remember and honor our loved ones who we’ve lost to this disease or who have been affected by it. We hope that someday that we don’t have to relay because someday we hope that there is a cure. So you better believe that TD is here for the long haul and we won’t stop until there is a cure! So I look forward to seeing you again next year. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Lots of love,
Marianne

PS
If you have any pictures to share, we would like to post them on our website so please e-mail RJ to let him know. Also, please forward this to anyone who helped you raised money. I am also forever indebted to them for their support. Thanks.
