About
On June 6, 2003, Kevin Donovan was diagnosed with Stage IV stomach cancer, at the age 31. Prior to his diagnosis, he had a promising career with AEG. Kevin was working as the Director of Corporate Sponsorship. He was doing what he loved most in the world of sports. He had only been married less than a year when he was struck with the terrible news. The odds were against him but he held his courage like no other.
A month after his diagnosis, he learned about the Beach Cities’ Relay For Life event being held in his beloved South Bay. He was determined to be a big part of it. Two weeks before the event, Team Donovan was formed. He called on his friends, family, and colleagues for support and they answered overwhelmingly. In two short weeks, the team raised over $35,000.
Beach Cities’ Relay For Life 2003 was a much-needed bright spot for Kevin during his very difficult battle with stomach cancer. It was an event he talked about over and over. Although he lost his battle 4 months after his diagnosis, Team Donovan vowed to continue the tradition of touching lives the way Kevin touched ours.
Since 2003, Team Donovan has raised over $240,000. Our team endeavors to raise money and awareness towards the fight to find the cure for cancer. It is our way of continuing Kevin’s legacy of touching people’s lives and having a positive impact on others. Please join us in honoring Kevin and the millions who have also been affected with this awful disease.
Join us in the fight against cancer and come with us to the Beach Cities’ Relay For Life!
